Warning: This post is all mush and cheese. You need something to wash it down with. A tea perhaps? :)

“I wanna marry you because you’re the first person that I want to look at when I wake up in the morning and the only one I wanna kiss goodnight. Because the first time that I saw these hands, I couldn’t imagine not being able to hold them. But mainly, when you love someone as much as I love you, getting married is the only thing left to do. So will you… um… marry me?” Will Hayes on Definitely Maybe

I don’t know about you but when I was younger I have always dreamed wondered about how my wedding will be like, who I am spending my whole life with and how the proposal will be. I imagined the proposal to be done in that perfect setting (it changes from time to time though, depends on the current mood/trend/like :P ), made by the ‘man of my dreams’ (still faceless until last year ^_^), and then the ‘and they live happily every after’ follows. But as I grew older those daydreams were forgotten, finding ‘The One’ was just something that I believe others could have but not me, became obsessed with That-Job-That-Will-Define-Me and everything else in between. But (prepare for much cheesiness) when I met The One, the Man of My Dreams, my Superman – everything changed, being with my Soulmate has become my first priority.

This photo was taken when we were just sat down. Our wait staff was so eager to take our photo. :D

G&J’s 12th Monthsary!

I am a big fan of firsts that’s why I refused to acknowledge that it is G&J’s 1st year anniversary yesterday, 13th of May 2012, as we’re apart: I’m in Davao, G is in SG. But I realized and should have known that what matters most is what’s in our hearts: this so much love that is enough to cover the distance that separates us. Happy 12th Monthsary G! Looking forward to another first anniversary next year, as husband and wife.

Before I left for the Philippines, I bought G a ticket for a Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tour here in SG as my anniversary present for him (at least he can experience being a tourist in SG even for just a day and see the places in a different perspective). I know we won’t be together that day so I thought this as a good way to keep himself entertained. I hid my gift (with a letter and a map of SG) in one of the cupboards at home and last May 12, I told him to go look for that package. Since I won’t be there to join him in his tour, he brought along Mini J to keep him company and to remind him of me (that was sweet). And here is Mini J’s accounting of that day. Enjoy!

That’s My Mini Me. Do we look alike? This was a gift from G last July 26, 2011.

A Happy And Tearful Affair – Jun&Ivy Nuptials

Who doesn’t cry at weddings? I know I always do. Well, I’ve only been to a couple of wedding ceremonies, when two of my closest and dearest friends got married, and I cried buckets of tears in both.

A really good friend of mine, Ivy, got married yesterday to one of the nicest and humblest guy I know, Jun. It was a really joyous occasion. But I was dubbed Ms. OA of the Night (OA means over acting) because tears just kept on pouring, non-stop, even when we were singing our hearts out to the tune of Livin La Vida Loca at the after party (there is a bit of exaggeration to that). But I can tell you a dozen of reasons why we cry at weddings. Or at least why I cried in theirs. And it may sound mushy and corny when I look back at it, but when I was in that moment, I can’t help but be engulfed in my emotions and the only way of release is to let go of the tears.

Pizza Capers: A Really Crap Pizza Experience

Quote

It’s our first time to have Pizza Capers and this is what we have to say about it:

G:

“The most disappointing pizza experience I have ever suffered in my life – and I’ve even eaten pizza in JB. After a wait of 90 minutes, two tiny boxes arrived which we had purchased for the ludricous sum of nearly $30. I should have spent the $30 on frozen pizza from Fairprice. The pizza was tiny, like a mini frisbee, and for the same price I could have had two decent sized pizzas from Canadian 241. We ordered the deal which gave us a “cheaper” price of $24 (before tax and delivery charge) for two pizzas – I would have hated to have paid another $20 for the standard price to receive this junk. We ordered the “Italian Connection” and “Beef Provencal”, both flavourless and unappealing. Next time I’ll save my time and money and just eat some sick from the ground – it’ll be much better.”

Singapore is known for being a highly industrialized city with its high-rise buildings and modern landscape. So it came as no surprise that the more popular tourist attractions were man-made (Orchard Rd, Sentosa, Universal Studios, Marina Bay Sands, and the list goes on). Of course, these places were all on the itinerary for our trip, but we also preferred something “off the beaten track”.

Pulau Ubin is nothing like the main Singapore island. It felt more like home for me (Philippines). Here's a bit of information, written by a Geologist friend who came and visited, on what you can do in Pulau Ubin... That is if you're tired of the concrete jungle and commercialism that is Singapore (main island!).

February Travels

I am a newbie traveler. I fell in love with traveling when I first went overseas, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2008. It wasn’t a great destination but it was good enough to convince me that getting lost in the crowd, haggling for good buys, discovering great treats, listening to locals speak their own language and that feeling of anonymity are experiences worth repeating. Over and over again, no matter how trivial it is.

After that, I have planned birthday trips and I hope this will continue on until the day that I physically can’t travel anymore.

2009 – Hong Kong (1/2 day)

2009 – Macau

2010 – The Move to Singapore

2011 – Batam, Indonesia (Although it’s a post-birthday celebration)

2012 – Home

So, where to on 2013? :)

Davao City As Seen By A ‘Kano (Guest Post by G)

Kano is a Filipino slang for Americans, to be exact, and Caucasians in general. I asked G to write something about Davao City so you would know how my hometown left an impression to a foreigner and a first-timer in Davao City and the Philippines. And, oh, G isn’t a ‘Kano, he’s Briton. :)

Kini Rogers: Search for the Double Down by G

As you can tell by our ever-increasing bellies, J and I are both big fast food fans. We both share a love for the McDonald’s McSpicy and both have a weakness for fried chicken. When I discovered that KFC in the Philippines had the legendary Double Down on their menu, we both knew we had to go. Oh, and maybe see a bit of the Philippines too.

For those who don’t know, the Double Down looks like a sex in the mouth. The colonel has cunningly replaced the unwanted bread buns with the genius concept of two extra pieces of chicken, and glued it all together with a bacon filling. It’s the kind of food item that men go to war for, and I was as excitied as a Filipino in a jam factory to finally try one.
